You can visibly see that certain individuals have changed their go to communication style. And I think a lot of that has stemmed from the sort of work that Kim’s been leading. So I’d say that’s one of the biggest takeaways.
To be honest, I was quite sceptical about coaching going into it. I thought ‘this isn’t going to work, they don’t know anything about our business. It’s going to be pointless. And then within 10 minutes he [Phil] had won me over. His knowledge is great. It gives you confidence in him straight away.
We can always take something from them. You tend to get stuck in a blinkered vision on the job, so it’s good to have people like Kim come in from outside and look at it in a different perspective, which makes you think about, oh, yeah, okay, I can understand that now. I can see that. I thought [the team day] was very good.
We were just an Integrated Project Team in name when we started, but as we’ve gone on I think, with Phil’s help, we’ve actually been able to come, or get close, to what we set out to be in the first place, which is an integrated team. Everybody’s sort of pulling towards the same goals.
I think [Phil] did help us dig deep in terms of asking the questions that we need to ask to get to the root of the problem, to identify the best solution. We had some good information and feedback from the sessions on NRP planning. It did help ultimately, in delivering the scheme on time or early, even.
